Are There Age Restrictions?
Ceramics is a static activity suitable for participants of all ages. However, some processes may involve sharp tools, so younger children might need parental assistance. Our workshops welcome children aged six and above to unleash their creativity and create unique ceramic pieces!
How Do the Paints Used in Ceramics Differ from Those Used in Drawing?
Ceramics require high-temperature firing, during which regular paints may burn off. Only "underglaze," made from mineral-based materials, can maintain vibrant colors after being fired at high temperatures.
What is the Firing Temperature?
From clay to finished product, ceramics undergo two firings. The first firing occurs at 800 degrees Celsius to solidify the clay structure, making it easier to apply glaze. The second firing is above 1200 degrees Celsius, which vitrifies the glaze.
Are Fired Ceramics Safe to Use?
Ceramic pieces fired at 1200 degrees Celsius are very safe for use, suitable for food, and can be placed in the microwave and dishwasher without issue.
What If I Can't Attend the Workshop After Making a Reservation?
We understand that unexpected life events can arise. If you truly cannot attend, we will do our best to reschedule the class for the nearest available time. Make-up classes must be completed within one month, as kiln firing takes time, and changes might affect the retrieval of your pieces.
How Long After the Workshop Can I Pick Up My Pieces?
The firing process takes about 2-3 weeks. Once the firing is complete, we will notify you so you can pick up your pieces from the studio!
